Sickness

So I am now on official day 4 of going vegan.... well kinda. I had a minor problem last night with taco bell! They made me my bean and rice burrito with a jalapeno sauce that was made of mayo. Stupid! but that's ok no big deal, everything else has been so far so good. I thought that it would be harder than it is, but it hasn't really been that bad. The most challenging thing is of course trying to eat out at a modern day restaurant because there is butter on EVERYTHING!!!!! This is why I love Thai food there isn't any hidden ingredients!

So I am a little stopped up and feeling a little under the weather. It could be from a few things.... First off Brandon was sick for about two weeks. Second lots of change in the weather here lately. Third it could be my body detoxing from meat and dairy, in which you have similar symptoms. Weird??? Or it could just be everything! haha I watched Oprah yesterday and she had a whole show on foods you should put in your body. I thought it was great, and justified even more what I was already thinking! I really have enjoyed planning and putting thought into everything thing I eat. I have already seen a difference, I have lost about 5 pounds already! I have also been trying to work out. I really enjoy running, and have just started running on a treadmill which is not as good but still good.

I only have 10 more days until my big test!!! I'm so nervous about it, but I have been studying! Hopefully I can do well and pass the first time! Which I will cause I'm smart and can do it! Just be praying and thinking good thoughts while I am taking it on Saturday the 6th at 2 pm!

Day: 1

So today was the first official day of going vegan. It has gone pretty well, and I have not been hungry or too weak or anything! I started off with some apple cinnamon oatmeal I made from scratch and some coffee. For lunch I had some carrots and some beans and rice. Dinner, though was by far the BEST! I made jasmine rice, fried tofu and butternut squash, zucchini and sweet potatoes. It was pretty much amazing!

I am also going to try a yoga class in the morning at 5:30 AM!!! I have never done yoga, but have always been interested in it so I figure why not try it! Its an early class which means there wont be a ton of people to make fun of me! Haha I am so un-coordinated!

I am still studying for my TEXES exam, and getting more and more discouraged. I really need to think positively on this though, because its in two weeks, and I must pass it! Just pray I do well on it so that I don't have to take it again! My test is on February 6th and 2:00pm! PRAY ALL DAY! My superheroness to pass the texes exam!

Off to work out time!

It's that time again!

So I know I am a terrible update blogger, so therefore I am going to really try this time. I have had a lot going on the past few months!!! I am so excited to share everything!

Two weeks ago I started a teacher certification course through Region XI in Fort Worth. Pretty much this program will prepare me to be a teacher by this next fall! I am so busy because there is so much work to be done for the program! I have an online class, an Integrated Field Experience course, a Harry Wong book study and the classes themselves to go to. I am also in the process of getting ready to start substitute teaching. I have never done this before, or been in charge of kids before, so hopefully all will go well. I am so excited to start this chapter of my life, because I am truly passionate about it. I don't think I have ever felt this way about anything! I am also in the process of finding out more about becoming bilingual in Spanish. I really want to be fluent, so that I can teach at a school that is bilingual, and also to learn more about their culture and eventually travel and teach English. I just find the Spanish culture one of the most interesting, and I love the people I meet! I have my TEXES test on February 6th. This is the test that determines whether or not I can be a teacher. I have to pass it with an 80% or higher! So please please please be praying I pass it the first time!!!!

Another thing going on in my life is I am working out again. I worked out a total of 5 days last week! I really enjoy working out, and would like to keep doing so! It makes me feel and look great! I also packed on a few pounds from eating too badly at Christmas and just in general.

I am also reading a book called The Kind Diet by Alicia Silverstone. It is pretty much about going Vegan and then giving up all processed foods and all sugars. I find this very very interesting, because I have always wondered about health risks of eating or not eating meat. The way she describes everything is great! Like she puts it in terms that anyone can understand. It just makes me so excited to actually try and see what that kind of life could be like! So starting tomorrow I am going vegan for the next 4 weeks. That means no meat, dairy or any animal products. I want to do it not only for the animals but also for all the amazing health benefits. They say vegans have a lower body weight, better immune system and are at a lower risk for heart disease and cancer! Sounds win win to me! I will update daily to tell you how it is going. I am sure it is going to be hard because I have never done anything like this before! So we'll see how it goes!

I hope you enjoy this beautiful day outside! Check out the kind life website for more info on the book and what I am about to start doing! thekindlife.com

Tibet and bike rides

So I know weird title but thats what my life has consisted of the past few days. I have been reading "In Exile from the Land of Snows" which is a book about Tibet during the 14th Dali Lama and the invasion of China. I watched 7 years in Tibet last night and had already checked this book out from the library. I haven't gotten into the book yet enough to know exactly what has happened in Tibet but I do know that millions have died and that they have lost over 6000 monasteries. The more I know the more I will pass on!

Today is such a beautiful day! I woke up this morning and walked Jack to a nearby park and we sat for a minute then walked back. Its been so nice lately! I also rode to the Bicentennial Park in Pantego today which is about 3 miles away and I just sat there and ate a sandwhich and spent about 30 minutes in prayer! It was amazing! I am just so thankful for the life I have.

I dont have too much to say today mostly because I havent been doing very much lately. Enjoy this wonderful day!

Wasting Time

Lately I have noticed that I waste a lot of time on the internet. There is so much to do and learn on the internet yet I waste my time on Facebook and Myspace. I recently got rid of my iphone so that I would stop wasting time on it, and now I have replaced it with the computer. I could be doing so many other things with my time but it like sucks you in. its weird yet true and everyone does it.

I was reading the Come and Live blog one day and he said something that made a lot of sense. He made a list of the things that make him think of getting closer to God and a list of things that draw him away from God. I really liked that idea and all the things he wrote really made sense.

Things that are distracting:
Myspace
Facebook
Television
Looking for a VW Bus
Sleepiness
Eating

Things that are good:
Drinking Coffee and having some time in the morning
Walking and praying
Beautiful Mornings and sitting in the park
Riding my bike

Why is it so hard to stop looking at the internet for one minute and picking up the bible? I think its because I am just consumed with people and their lives. I know its sad but its true. Its kind of like when you are little and you are playing with your friends but you are really hungry and you want to eat but you are just too busy doing something else. I do that a lot especially at work I'll get busy doing something and wont take the time to slow down and eat or slow down and relax.

I went to the park this morning to walk my dog and have a little quiet time and it was absolutely amazing! The weather is great outside today! I was actually a little too cool whenever the wind would blow. I love days like today, they make me a little sad because I always think of Boise and how I would love to be there! I know its a little lame but I feel that that is where I should be, and hopefully one day I will be! The picture is of the Hyde Park district of Boise Idaho. You know you wanna go!

I am very thankful that in 3 weeks we will be hitting the road for our glorious 10 day vacation all around Colorado! We are driving up there and literally going through the whole state! I havent had a vacation in a while so I am super excited and very thankful for going. We have saved a good amount of money to have a great time!

Well time to put down the computer and pick up a book! Enjoy the beautiful day that the Lord has made!

Soon I'll be a daily blogger...

So I haven't blogged in nearly a year I guess so I think its about that time to start blogging again. So as you can tell the Boise thing did not work out. It is currently on hold until our economy gets better, so hopefully one day we will get to go there. It is still like the greatest place ever to me, and I would be totally happy moving there and seeing what would be in store for us there. Not too much has really changed since I have stopped blogging so I will just get right into what I really wanna talk about.

This summer Brandon went on tour for about a month with the band that he is currently in called The Captive. While he was gone I decided to do a little soul searching since I had plenty of time. I know that if you know me you will know that I was raised in church and have always believed in God, but I dont think I ever fully understood what it meant to be a follower of Christ until this summer. I have never been one to totally dive in and give myself fully to God, mostly because I think I was always too scared too. Which it still is pretty scary to think about especially when you read the bible and Jesus is talking about Letting the dead bury their own, and leaving everything you have taking nothing with you not even saying good bye to your family. So I have been trying to read as much as possible and listen as much as possible to hear the Lord in my life and figure out just what I am suppose to do here on this earth. Its a little scary sometimes, and not always what you want but I think thats just how it goes.

I have read some really good books which I would recommend such as Crazy Love by Chan.. Sorry cant remember his first name. But anyways that was the first book I read and mostly what it talks about is not being a lukewarm christian and how God will spit you out. I felt pretty guilty reading this book but its totally worth it. I also read the Shack which is a little far fetched but I really enjoyed it. I am currently reading the Irresistible Revolution by Shane Claiborne, who by the way is an amazing person and has started an amazing organization in Philly called the Simple Way.

I just really want to strive to be more christ like and less like me I guess because I find myself judging gossiping and doing a lot of the things I would like to stop doing. I especially want to be able to love everyone the way God tells us too, especially since I work at the mall. haha

I think thats about all I have for right now..
